The company

The Food Intelligence is a company established in 2017 as a result of the merger of two companies in the investment, networking, and innovation sectors within the agri-food industry: InsideFood and LBI Network.

During this time, The Food Intelligence has focused its activities on the definition, management, and implementation of brand reputation, credibility, and investment projects for the agri-food sector, with a strong innovative technological component.

The Food Intelligence offers support services for all investors and financial actors seeking to make investments in the agri-food sector in Spain. In this way, The Food Intelligence acts as a support service throughout the process, including scouting opportunities and operations, as well as providing advice and guidance during investment processes within the sector in Spain.

To achieve this, The Food Intelligence leverages not only its experience and organizational structure but also its extensive networking across the entire sector and all categories. This includes collaboration with partners, colleagues, and contacts in public and private sectors, technological areas, educational institutions, universities, technology centers, business associations, clusters, public institutions at both the national and regional levels, and other actors in the financial sector.

The Food Intelligence

The agro sector, a business opportunity.

The Spanish agri-food sector, which includes the primary sector, the food and beverage processing industry, and commercialization, increased its Gross Value Added (GVA) by 2.3% in 2023, reaching €119.14 billion. This growth surpasses the 1.9% average recorded by the European sector and represents an 8.9% contribution of the Spanish agri-food sector to the national GDP. Spain has solidified its position as the fourth-largest agri-food economy in the European Union, contributing 12.2% of the sector’s EU GVA.

The Spanish agri-food sector is the leading producer of citrus fruits, with a 53.6% market share, olive oil (41.7%), sheep and goat livestock (26.4%), pork livestock (23.8%), and fresh fruits (19.7%). Additionally, Spain is the fourth-largest exporter of agri-food products in the EU-27, with a 9.9% market share, ranking behind the Netherlands, Germany, and France. (Source: Cajamar).

The Spanish agri-food industry comprises 29,164 companies (9.6% of the total in the EU-27), making it the third country with the most companies in the EU-27, behind France and Italy.
